Dr Rashid Ali is a distinguished aerospace engineer, researcher, and educator with a remarkable career in developing innovative technologies and advancing aerospace education. With extensive experience in UAV design, flight simulation, and embedded systems, Dr Ali has led transformative projects and contributed to the development of multiple aerospace engineering degree programmes, including MSc and BEng courses at the University of Hertfordshire and Emirates Aviation University. A recognised expert in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Dr Ali has designed and test-flown over 70 unique UAV configurations, mentoring IMechE and BMFA UAS competition teams along the way. His groundbreaking work in flight simulation includes designing motion platforms, vision systems, and full-scale simulators, such as the Cessna 152 trainer and GLASS 737. Dr Ali’s expertise extends to embedded systems development, with proficiency in microcontroller technologies, programming languages such as MATLAB, Simulink, and embedded C, and advanced hardware-software integration. His research spans diverse areas, including renewable energy systems, propeller noise reduction, and PEM fuel cell propulsion, supported by organisations such as Innovate UK and iCASE awards.
