Sam Merchant

Five years ago Sam created the first Data Governance Office in DE&S, the procurement arm of the UK Ministry of Defence. A career in project management and business analysis prepared her to take on the significant challenge of introducing data governance into a complex environment. During the intervening years Sam has built a dedicated team, delivered a data governance framework into the organisation, and worked with many knowledge experts to ensure data is rightly regarded as a strategic asset. She has fostered links across the wider Ministry of Defence to further improve the quality of data handled by this government department.
