Lee Austin

With 13 years of experience in British Army strategic and tactical secure communications, recently as a Cyber Security Manager at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), a leading Defence and National Security arms length organisation (DNS), I have developed and fine tuned my expertise in the cyber security profession; to mention, network administration, and operational and informational workload defence capabilities. Multiple certifications, including being externally endorsed for CISSP, Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM), Cyber Security DevOps & Leadership, a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), SANS 501, JNCIA, and CCNA, to mention a few. I thrive to demonstrate my proficiency and commitment to this ever growing profession.
Since May 2023, I’ve had the pleasure of leading the cybersecurity capability at the University of Portsmouth. I’m assisted by a team of security professionals to design, improve and implement security capabilities & policies, monitor asset activity, and detect & respond to information security threats promptly. Our mission is to create a secure environment that supports the University’s overarching mission of innovation and collaboration in education and research, to facilitate them in becoming the #1 top modern university in the Uniked Kingdom!
I am passionate and a hobbyist of cyber security. Staying abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices is a pleasure, and I enjoy sharing my unique knowledge and expertise with others.
