BA Conference Lunchtime Meditation Session: Midday Mindfulness

BAs play an important leadership role in any organisation. We lead change to deliver value to our stakeholders in today’s increasingly complex world. We champion the vision to ensure the team works together to achieve business outcomes.
Effective leadership is a combination of 3 essential elements:
1. A growth mindset : our attitude and disposition – adaptable, persistent and continuously learning
2. Mindfulness : awareness – present, non-judgmental and objective
3. Servant leadership : being of service – outwardly focused to help and support others
These 3 pillars of leadership are equally important. Just like the legs of a stool, they provide a stable base encompassing the qualities of all 3 elements. Mindfulness isn’t an optional extra; it is a necessary component without which the whole structure collapses.
BA Conference Chatty Run

Need something to boost your energy for the last day of the conference? Still have loads of energy left Are you new to the BA Conference? Is this your first visit to London? Do you want a chance to see some of the sights of the City of London? Do you fancy a memorable chatty run with other friendly business analysts? If you have answered “Yes” to one or more of the questions then you might want to join the BA Conference Chatty Run. After the success of the inaugural BA Chatty Run last year, we are offering a chance to meet with other conference attendees for a chatty run around some London landmarks near our conference venue. The route is a little over 5km and we will run at a leisurely chatty pace with frequent stops to catch our breath and admire the scenery. The route will take us via the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, London Bridge, Pudding Lane & Monument, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England. There will be time to stop and take some selfies and learn a little bit about each location from my astonishingly limited knowledge of local history! So pack your running shoes and why not join us for a chatty run around the streets of London? Good weather and historical accuracy are not guaranteed.

BA Conference Lunchtime Session: Chair Yoga

As BAs, we often spend our days sitting hunched over a computer, resulting in lower back pain, shoulder stiffness, mental stress and anxiety. A regular Chair Yoga practice can offer much-needed relief. Traditionally, chair yoga is practised by the elderly or mobility-impaired, but did you know that it can be beneficial for everyone – especially us desk jockeys? Come and find out by joining us for this 20-minute practical chair yoga session, facilitated by Philippa Thomas, Head of Quality & Compliance at AssistKD and British Wheel of Yoga teacher. Incorporating a range of postures and breathwork, the session will help you build strength, increase flexibility, and manage stress…all while sitting in your seat. No special clothing is needed, simply come as you are.
