Your Submission for the Data Governance Best Practice Award 2026

Only one nomination per organisation,  per category.

The award is given to the practitioners within a customer organisation (i.e. company/corporation, government agency or non-profit, as opposed to a software vendor or consulting company) in recognition of the business value and technical excellence they have achieved in the design and implementation of an outstanding data governance programme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individual Category: Open to professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, creativity, or impact in implementing or enhancing data governance within their organisation.
  • Team Category: Open to teams that have successfully delivered a project, programme, or initiative showcasing exemplary collaboration and innovation in data governance.

Each submission is judged on the following criteria

  • Clarity of Submission: Well-articulated responses with clear and concise information.
  • Innovation: Introduction of novel ideas or significant enhancements to data governance practices.
  • Impact: Evidence of tangible and measurable results.
  • Collaboration (Team Category): Demonstrated teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
  • Sustainability: Long-term viability and scalability of the initiative.
  • Leadership (Individual Category): Evidence of inspiring change and influencing best practices.

Individual Category

Describe your role in the data governance initiative. What specific challenges did you address, and what actions did you take to overcome them?

How have you ensured the long-term success and scalability of your initiative?

Team Category

Describe the data governance project or initiative your team implemented. What were its objectives and scope?
How did your team collaborate effectively to deliver this project? Provide examples of cross-functional teamwork or stakeholder engagement.
What innovative solutions or practices were introduced as part of the project?
Outline the key results and benefits achieved (e.g., compliance improvements, cost savings, risk reduction).
How could your project be scaled or replicated in other areas or organisations?
What challenges did the team face, and how were they addressed? What key lessons were learned?

Submission Details

• Submissions are due by the 9th February 2025. Only one nomination per organisation, per category.
• All submissions become the property of IRM UK and may be used in part or full for promotional and/or educational purposes.
• We will honour specific confidentiality requests and refrain from making certain information public, however confidential information must be specifically identified and limited to no more than 15% of the overall submission.
• There will be no deadline extensions given to submitting organisations.
• Finalists will be notified in late February. All finalists will receive a free 2-day Conference ticket. The winner will be announced and the award will be formally presented at the 2025 Data Governance Conference Europe. The winner will be invited to present a case study in person of their data governance programme at a future IRM UK Data Conference.
